News - Margi Lim |
Chris has recently completed commissioned work for
Margi Lim, a New York based artist who will be
opening a new Art Gallery in Eumundi QLD, very soon.
Chris fitted the gallery out for Margi with numerous
unique pieces of furniture and frames and was also
greatly honoured to have made a number of pieces for
Margis’ home.
We are looking forward to the official opening of
the new gallery and wish Margi well in her new
venture.

The Aussie Cheese
Board
Chris and Janelle Cole were thrilled to be finalists
in the recent awards with their entry of “The Aussie
Cheese Board”, an abstract Australian shaped cheese
board in a range of six sizes. Their entry was the
only timber product in the nominated category to
gain finalist standing. Designing the board was
initially a fun thing for Chris and Janelle but it
has turned into a high demand product.
Chris said “We have found tourists prefer
innovative, functional gifts that have a local story
to tell and which reminds them of their travels. Our
product is individually handcrafted by us in Eumundi
using locally sourced camphor laurel timber.”
Janelle said it has been an exciting time for them
as they were finalists also in the best product
category of the recent inaugural Eumundi Business
Awards. She said “We have been crafting our product
for 12 years and have gained a great reputation. We
have been travelling Australia in a caravan with a
portable workshop set up in the back of their truck.
We have been doing markets and wholesaling along the
way but once we arrived in Eumundi we have stayed.”
The Memento Awards were launched 8 years ago to
promote and recognise authentic and innovative
products which are suitable as a memento, gift or
souvenir of Australia . With the market for such
items reaching $700 million per year, it is
important that these sales go to authentic, high
quality Australian producers and designers, not poor
quality imports. The selection criteria for the
Memento Awards require items be compact, lightweight
and portable; priced to meet a tourism market, with
a wholesale value not exceeding $150; express wit,
freshness and originality; and reflect the character
and spirit of a destination or region within
Australia.
